Coach Jamie Green: A Legacy of Championship Excellence
The Early Years: A Foundation in the Game
Over 50 years ago, Jamie Green was introduced to the game of golf by riding in between his parents on a golf cart when his father would have a day off from working as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Like many boys and girls, Jamie played numerous sports before settling on golf as the endeavor to which he’d be most interested, passionate, and committed.
Academic and Professional Origins
Having earned his college degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, where Green played four years of collegiate golf—including an appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship—Jamie chose to pursue a career in the golf industry. Focused on teaching and coaching the sport to junior golfers and young adults since 1994, he started this path as a lead instructor at dozens of junior golf camps, clinics, and programs, eventually becoming owner and director of the Duke Golf School for Boys from 2010 to 2025.
Igniting the Fire for Collegiate Coaching
After earning his Class A, Professional Golfers Association of America membership in 1997, Green decided that collegiate coaching would be his life’s work. Although he served as a teaching and club professional in Ohio, Florida, Arizona, and New Hampshire immediately after his studies, his exposure to the Dartmouth College men’s and women’s golf programs ignited a fire for “providing the tools for learning.”
The Division I Ascent
From 1994 to 2025, Green served in numerous capacities as a Division I NCAA college golf coach and member of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). After working seasonally at Dartmouth College and Tulane University, Green landed a position at perennially highly ranked Auburn University in 1997 as the Men’s Assistant coach. From there, he joined the University of North Carolina men's team as an assistant coach between 1999 and 2003.
Building a National Contender: UNC Charlotte
His first head coaching stint began in 2003 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Jamie directed a men's program that had never played in an NCAA Regional Championship in school history prior to 2005 to become the #1 team in the nation across all ranking polls by the end of the 2007 Fall campaign. His tenure included three Atlantic-10 Conference Championships, 17 tournament wins, and two top-10 NCAA National Championship finishes.
